The US Federal Courthouse is another project completed for Sharp Glass.

This shoot was rather tricky to get the timing right. I usually photograph buildings during golden or blue hour. However, since this building is located in downtown San Antonio, this timing didn't work for two reasons:

  1. A golden hour shoot caused the sun to reflect in the glass on the front the building.
  2. A blue hour shoot caused shadows from surrounding building to be cast on the subject.

Because of these two factors, I adjusted the schedule to shoot around 10am, then again around 2:30pm. The weather in San Antonio was terrible for about three weeks. Finally, a nice day of sun lead to perfect conditions to photograph.

Funny story....

For most of these buildings, my photography includes DSLR work from the ground AND drone work from the air. Whenever you are photographing a building, it's likely that someone will question you. This time, I had six US Marshalls surround my car as I was packing up to leave. I showed them my FAA license to fly a drone and we were good to go. Always flight legally my friends!

The photos came out great and the client was super happy!
