The appeal of downtown San Antonio continues to rise as new, “hip” establishments lay ground.  Downtown is no longer just a tourist spot.  Local residents keep finding their way back to enjoy all the perks of new growth in their own city.   With this upward trend, the need for affordable residential space is on the rise as well.

No worries, The ’68 Apartments is ready to fulfill these needs.

Local developer David Adelman’s project is right in the heart of Hemisfair.  Teamed up with architects Lake | Flato and Cadence McShane Construction, the eight-story, 151 unit building is impressive to say the least.

Adelman’s vision came to life when he first heard Hemisfair did a request for qualifications.  First passing on “monumental” sites available near Market & Alamo, the one acre site between the Yanaguana Garden playground and the John Wood Jr U.S. Courthouse caught his attention.  Presenting the perfect opportunity, a 75 year ground lease was signed.

Construction is still in progress, but that hasn’t stopped local residents from signing up and moving in!  At the time of this article, The ’68 already has 31 leases signed and 12 residents moved in.

The amenities of the new building serve as attractive additions to Hemisfair, but keeps its tenants needs as the main priority. A 3,500 SF space was designed for a restaurant to be comfortable, modern, and affordable to families.  A state of the art gym is located in the building, but will be available to non-residents as well.

One of the main, shared visions of The ’68 was to create a project that gives back to Hemisfair and sets ground for revitalization.  The revenue from the lease will help pay for park maintenance, operation, and activation in perpetuity.  In addition, neighboring leases have already been signed for “hip” businesses including Lick Honest Ice Creams and an urban winery for Texas grown juice.

The units themselves are modern, comfortable and present spectacular views.  Ranging from a loft to a two bedroom apartment, The ’68 offers urban living at affordable prices.  Did I mention how great the views are?
